The SkyTrak+ launch monitor aims to bring a realistic golf simulation experience to your home or practice area. It utilizes both camera and Doppler radar technology to track your shots, providing data on club and ball performance. The unit is designed to be relatively compact and portable, with Wi-Fi and USB connectivity options. It boasts compatibility with iOS devices (iPad and iPhone), eliminating the need for an expensive gaming computer for some users. The device also features a rechargeable battery.
Reviews on the SkyTrak+ are mixed. Some users, like Troy McFerren and Tony, report positive experiences, highlighting ease of use and satisfaction with the product's functionality. Tony specifically appreciates the compatibility with iOS devices and the ability to compare yardage readings with on-course performance. However, other users have encountered significant issues. Steve Bachman found the accuracy lacking, with consistent slice/fade readings regardless of swing path. Matthew Look reported frequent shot misses, errors, and the need for constant reboots, indicating a potential hardware problem. Austin Smith noted that the product's functionality with third-party software is limited.
Pros:
* Ease of Use: Many reviewers found the setup and initial use straightforward, especially with iOS devices.
* iOS Compatibility: The ability to connect to iPads and iPhones is a significant advantage, eliminating the need for a dedicated gaming PC.
* Compact and Portable: The unit's size allows for easy setup and use in various locations, including outdoors.
* Good Customer Support: Juan M B. and others praised the customer support team for their responsiveness and helpfulness.
* Value for Money: While not perfect, some reviewers feel the SkyTrak+ offers good value compared to more expensive launch monitors.
* Durable Design: The unit appears rugged and suitable for outdoor use.
Cons:
* Accuracy Concerns: Several users reported inaccurate readings, particularly regarding swing path and ball flight.
* Hardware Issues: Matthew Look's experience suggests potential hardware problems, including shot misses and frequent errors.
* Limited Third-Party Software Compatibility: Austin Smith noted the product's incompatibility with third-party software, restricting course options.
* Limited Courses: C. Engel mentions a limited number of courses, which is a drawback.
* Charging Time: The unit takes several hours to charge.
The SkyTrak+ presents a mixed bag. While it offers the convenience of iOS compatibility, ease of use, and a compact design, significant concerns regarding accuracy and hardware reliability surface in the reviews. The limited compatibility with third-party software and the potential for a restricted course selection further detract from the overall experience. The positive reviews highlight the product's potential, but the negative feedback, particularly regarding accuracy, cannot be ignored. Consider your priorities and tolerance for potential issues before purchasing. If accuracy is paramount, or if you require extensive course options, you might want to explore alternatives. However, if you value the convenience of iOS compatibility and are willing to accept some potential inaccuracies, the SkyTrak+ might still be a viable option, especially considering its price point.
Works great!. I purchased this as a refurbished product. It has been wonderful. Pared with the program, it has not given me any issues. I have used it for over 6 weeks now. I would buy it again.
Skytrak+ not very accurate.. The Skytrak+ was easy to set up and use. I tried it for two weeks and returned it. The Skytrak tech support was worthless. The unit i received showed all shots fading or slicing. The clubface always showed an out to in swing. Even if an in to out exaggerated swing was done it still showed out to in swingpath. Tech support which seems like an AI chatbox gave no answers other than to align unit. I aligned everyway possible to no avail. The unit had to be opened about 6 to 10 degrees to give the correct start line. I wish Skytrak tech support at least had a way to talk to them. I would have liked the unit if it was accurate at all.
Not worth even the discounted price, decent fun tho. I own the original SkyTrak. This one is only a slight improvement over the original (club data) and has almost no other bells and whistles to note. The price was okay given other monitors that provide the same functionality cost much more or require specialized balls. VERY limited amount of courses which is absolutely atrocious given other brands have literally thousands. That is by far the biggest downfall and worth docking two stars. Even 100 courses would make this a much better deal but for the price and the limited courses, it just isn’t worth it. Get the original skytrak, or even the MLM2Pro for a sweeter deal at a WAY better price.
Good value. Great customer support. Great deal. As described in perfect conditions. Mild signs of use as expected. Had to contact chat service support to re-register it on my name but C S answered my request in the chat immediately and change the registration to my name 1-2-3. 10 + to sky track costumer support. Connected and working great on my iPad Pro
super cool. I like this golf simulator from skytrak. It uses both a camera and doppler radar to track your shot. It is a relatively compact functional unit. It uses Wi-Fi to connect to your system as well as a USB. It uses a rechargeable battery with a USBc charger. It takes several hours to charge. The unit itself is rugged and can be placed outside on the ground. You will need a simulator setup to use this as well. Though it can be used on the course alone. if this is your first experience, you will also need a projector, screen, enclosure, mat, and computer or smart device. This all adds to the cost of using this item. Additionally once the app is setup (rougly 20 minutes from start to finish), you will need to buy a subscription for advanced features and course play. The free version only allows access to the driving range. However, I believe you can use a well known course program with the system. What you see on the screen is well laid out with good graphics. The unit sends out a laser beam to show proper ball placement. It can be easily setup for left or right handed golfers. I cannot speak to accuracy, but it seems to match my shots in the wild. The price of $1900 (day of review) is fair when compared to other simulators. If the free version offered more features and some courses 5 stars.
