It aims to be a user-friendly device that helps you make informed decisions about your shots. The reviews analyzed cover a range of experiences, from beginners to experienced golfers, providing a comprehensive look at the watch's strengths and weaknesses.
Many users highlight the accuracy of the yardage readings as a significant advantage. The watch provides distances to the front, center, and back of the green, as well as distances to hazards. This information helps you select the right club and plan your approach shots. Some users also appreciate the shot distance measurement feature, which helps track their performance. However, some users mention that the screen visibility can be an issue in bright sunlight, making it difficult to read the display. Another concern is battery life, with some users reporting that it may not last for a full 18-hole round, especially with all features enabled.
Pros:
* Ease of Use: The watch is praised for its simple and intuitive interface, making it easy to navigate and access the necessary information quickly. Reviewers often mention its user-friendly design.
* Accurate Yardage: The primary function of providing accurate distances is well-received. Users find the yardage readings reliable and helpful for club selection.
* Preloaded Courses: The watch comes preloaded with thousands of golf courses, eliminating the need for manual course downloads or updates in most cases.
* Shot Distance Measurement: The ability to measure shot distances is a valuable feature for tracking performance and improving your game. This helps you understand your typical distances with each club.
* Compact Design: The watch is comfortable to wear and doesn't interfere with your swing. Its compact design is preferred by those who dislike bulky rangefinders.
Cons:
* Screen Visibility: Several users report that the screen is difficult to read in direct sunlight, which can be a significant drawback on a sunny day.
* Battery Life: Some users find that the battery life is not sufficient for a full 18-hole round, especially with GPS and other features constantly running.
* Limited Features: Compared to some other GPS watches or rangefinders, the Aim W12 may lack some advanced features, such as slope calculation or detailed green maps.
The GolfBuddy Aim W12 GPS watch is a solid choice for golfers looking for a simple, accurate, and easy-to-use device. Its strengths lie in its accurate yardage readings and user-friendly interface. It's a great option for those who prioritize simplicity and ease of use over advanced features. However, potential buyers should be aware of the potential issues with screen visibility in bright sunlight and the battery life. If you play in sunny conditions frequently or want a watch that lasts a full round, consider these factors. Overall, the GolfBuddy Aim W12 offers good value for money and is a worthwhile investment for golfers seeking a reliable GPS watch.
My laser rangefinder broke recently, so I'm looking for a new tool to help me feel better about my game. I had a Sky Caddie watch 10 years ago but shifted to a rangefinder on a whim. In reflection, I really didn't like the rangefinder for lack of convenience (laziness). So, now I'm going back to a watch. I tried the GolfBuddy AIM11 and I was not a fan. Assistance requested is should I go with the Voice Caddie t9 or the Sky Caddie LX5?
It strikes me as crazy that one is a 12 handicap without having the golf bug and playing all the time. I play often (granted only started this year) and would love to have a 12 handicap
Totally agree about GolfSideKick. I started following him and took 10 strokes off over the summer. Went from shooting in the 90s to the 80s.
Yeah number three is terrible advice. When I am hungry I make poor mental decisions and feel weak. Protein shakes give me bubble gut. Peanut Better/Banana/Honey sandwich on whole wheat bread cut into 4th's. Eat a fourth every 3-4 holes. I like to drink Powerade Zero cut with 50% water on the golf course as well instead of just water.
I've seen that the shot pattern app allows you to change the arc width between 70, 60, 50, and 40 yards. Are there any gps watches that allow you to change this? I like the functionality but prefer using a watch vs my phone.
