Several of my golf buddies have range finders from Blue Tees and Bushnell. These are all fabulous range finders with their own sets of pros and cons, so when it came time to buy my own I wanted to see what other options existed. The Nikon is a bit pricey (not so much when compared to a top of the line Bushnell) but the image stabilization is an absolute game changer.With both the blue tees and the Bushnell, the range finding is fine but I always found from over 150 yds out, that getting a stable mark on the pin is challenging. Jolt and (insert marketing term for being locked on to a target here) is helpful in increasing confidence you've shot the right thing. But nothing compares to seeing the pin through a stable image and shooting it directly. Couple that with the nice green ring and pleasant chirp you get when locked on and I now have 100% confidence what I've measured is an accurate number.Optics are fabulous, easily as good as any Bushnell I've come across. The display is extremely crisp and bright. The diopter adjustment is great, easy to change, but holds its position so it does not fall out of place. Its also a small form factor compared to the BlueTees or higher end Bushnell and feels wonderful in the hand.Cons are few and mostly begin and end with no integrated magnet and a somewhat low aesthetic value (but otherwise well made) included case. That said, its water-proof so setting it down on the fair-way while I take my next shot has never concerned me. There are 4 modes that are confusing to begin with, but make sense after a few-round which is the only reason I rated this range finder 4 stars for easy-to-use.Tldr: This is fantastic, high-quality range-finder on par with any Bushnell product I've seen. The image stabilization plus green ring and chirp set this apart and make it in my opinion the best range-finder currently on the market.","date":"2026-02-20","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"prod_209","source":"Amazon","sourceUrl":"https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091VQS214","author":"randal","rating":5,"text":"Great product and works so well. THE BEST RANGE FINDER!!. So everyone that’s already given this unit 5 stars has pretty well summed up most of the same things I’ve experienced with the one I own already. I really wanted to answer a question that some folks have had about the rattle they may feel when the unit is not in use. This little unit actually has a quite powerful image stabilizer mechanism. The loose part that you feel is actually a gyro counterweight swinging freely when not in use. It’s definitely not broken. You won’t hear it actually “rattling”, rather you will simply feel something wobbling in there. Not a defect in any way. That is definitely an attribute of the image stabilizer mechanism. No doubt.As for my faith in the quality and reliability of this Nikon Coolshot Pro 2 Stabilized?? Tomorrow I’ll be delivered another one I just bought here as a gift because it really is the best range finder I have ever owned. I’ve had a few brands/models and that image stabilization is a dang game changer. Seriously. I couldn’t give a higher recommendation for a rangefinder for out on the golf course. Besides the lack of a magnet (a magnet on the actual case of the unit would effext the image stabilizer so a padded magnetic Velcro strap would work fine), this thing is literally perfect for its intended task.","date":"2026-02-20","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"prod_209","source":"Amazon","sourceUrl":"https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091VQS214","author":"hopeless golf nut","rating":5,"text":"Great optics and stabilization that works. Rangefinders have gotten to the point now where you can get very good ones without spending a lot of money. I've tried a bunch and they are all pretty much the same from an accuracy standpoint.What makes this Nikon stand out (and worth the higher price) is:1) super clear optics, good field of view, and good eye relief (matters if wearing eye glasses or sunglasses)2) stabilization is quick and effective. Other 6x rangefinders I have used are harder for me to pinpoint a flag3) fast readout... yardage can be continuously scanned, but even in single shot mode, it's among the fastest I've seen4) actual replaceable battery. Battery life is outstanding, but when it's done, you can just swap a new one. A lot of other high-feature rangefinders have built-in rechargeable batteries, which I don't think is as good5) high contrast display/graphicsOverall, my favorite rangefinder.","date":"2026-02-20","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"prod_209","source":"Amazon","sourceUrl":"https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091VQS214","author":"Auz","rating":4,"text":"Seems to miss the pins. I like this product, but I have had problems with it picking up distances behind flags and not the actual flags. In several instances, it gave me the \"pin lock\" indication that was 25-100 yards off!!! it appears that the pin lock selects branches of trees in the background over the actual pins. I've had to target the ground next to the pin to get distances which doesn't work going uphill.The image stabilization feature is awesome.I find the lack of magnets annoying. It takes up valuable beer space because it lives in the cart cupholder during a round of golf. The Bushnell is far more convenient there. Likewise, the Bushnell magnets make it convenient to pick up off the ground with a club head.I really want to like this product more than I do. A GPS is probably a better tool and cheaper too. I would only buy this after I have a good gps.","date":"2026-02-20","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"prod_209","source":"Amazon","sourceUrl":"https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091VQS214","author":"Ant","rating":5,"text":"Amazing Optics - Lightning Quick. This product is amazing. The stabilization was the big reason I went with the Nikon on the high end range finder. For me this is upgrading from an off brand one that seems to have started giving iff distances and how i shake unfortunately difficult to lock on anything. This is a massive game changer for me. This has been so quick and right on - truly an amazing product if you struggle with locking on…and the optics are 10/10 with the picture you get in the unit.I did want to tell people yes, it will shake when you take it out if the package but THAT IS THE STABILIZATION. It activates when you turn the unit on so if you shake the hell out of the thing before you could ruin the stabilization. Just remember the lens is suspended in the unit and thats how a stabilization feature works.The case in ny opinion could be better, its pretty good but a hard case with a magnet would be awesome!","date":"2026-02-20","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"prod_209","source":"Amazon","sourceUrl":"https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091VQS214","author":"Jon Stevens","rating":5,"text":"Worth the $$ for clarity and stability. I’m a golf enthusiast (been playing for about 4 years) and also a solo indie developer who’s a bit obsessed with tracking swing data and making golf more fun with tech.\n\nLately, I’ve been on a mission to try out all the top golf shot tracer apps—Smooth Swing, GolfCam, Shot Tracer—really digging in to see what works and what’s just hype. Here’s my honest rundown after using each:\n\n# 1. Smooth Swing\n\nPros:\n\n* Tracer lines look great and super smooth.\n* Real-time shot tracing (best with white balls), decent stabilization, some swing analysis features.\n* Simple UI with high ratings (iOS).\n* Has extra stuff like GPS rangefinder.\n\nCons:\n\n* iOS only, no app for Android.\n* “Auto tracing” still depends a ton on perfect conditions—bright light, clean background, etc. Otherwise, you’re back to drawing lines yourself.\n* Only works well with single, short clips; batch processing is tough.\n\n# 2. GolfCam\n\nPros:\n\n* Designed for batch editing and making golf vlogs.\n* Cool templates—scorecards, tracer lines, sound effects—definitely cuts down editing time.\n* Easy to export batches for social media.\n* Very beginner-friendly.\n\nCons:\n\n* Auto tracing still pretty basic; t","date":"2025-11-12","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"prod_209","source":"Reddit","sourceUrl":"https://reddit.com/r/GolfSwing/comments/1ov4ips/i_tested_the_top_golf_shot_tracer_appsheres_why/","author":"u/TheKingInTheNorth","rating":null,"text":"The vision you have is clear but the reason the current apps don’t already do what you’re proposing is that videos lack the data necessary to actually know what the ball flight is unless the ball is literally visible for its entire flight. Do you think it's a lack of computation power that's preventing them from performing better? Or are you planning on incorporating human labor or something to make this work?\n\nThis detail is a bit odd to me:\n\n>You just upload one or a batch of swing videos, go live your life—1-2 hours later, you get pro-quality, traced videos sent back.\n\nI can't imagine any automated solution would take 1-2 hours to process something like this, but I'm also not familiar with shot tracing processing, so I'm curious what the deal is.\n\nBeyond that, I'd say what you're offering probably won't appeal to most people. I think most golfers are fine with suboptimal shot tracing since most golfers will take a look at it once or twice and never look at it again. I'm sure content creators may be much more interested in this kind of service, but at that point, you may want to offer something a bit more fuller to stand out from other offerings or just manually doing it themselves.\n\nAdditionally, I'd be curious to know about the costs here. When I hear \"1-2 hours\" for processing, I'm thinking something premium, which, again, is probably only going ","date":"2025-11-12","sentiment":"neutral"},{"productId":"prod_209","source":"Reddit","sourceUrl":"https://reddit.com/r/GolfSwing/comments/1ov4ips/i_tested_the_top_golf_shot_tracer_appsheres_why/","author":"u/SuitPristine2294","rating":null,"text":"Happy to give insights on my struggles with these apps and also limitations of doing everything on a mobile device. This assumption may or may not be right! Can you design a quick and dirty test for that assumption? Like, write some skeleton code to trace ball flight in the cloud using AI, and see if it outperforms those three apps. \n\nMy first thought would be that those apps fail because the phone simply doesn't reliably collect the needed data. If that hypothesis is right, maybe the right solution is to collect ball data in stereo using two phones, then use the cloud's processing power to stitch the data together. Or something lol. Good luck! It's a tough problem, I'm sure that those three apps have smart people trying to figure it out. \n\nPS. Trackman consoles at my driving range do a pretty good job at tracking ball flight, maybe you could figure out how they do it. Multiple cameras? Higher quality lenses? Please allow me to give my plan that I think will work. And what I mean is that you do a few hours of raw golf video on the course, hand the raw video to an AI video editor and the AI takes that video and adds shot tracers to the entire video for every shot. You know what does have completed shot data that the camera watching the shot does not have? Arccos or something similar. When you go find your ball to take the next shot, you are hitting from where your previous shot ended so that's one data point that is needed that the AI now has. Is the AI smart enough to take the location of the shot end point and translate that to a location as shown on a pic from the teebox? Yeah, I think the AI can do that. Now, all you need is shot shape. So, for every shot, after you hit it, speak so it is recorded on the video and say, shot started 10 yards right, went slightly higher than average for my driver, bounced straight, rolled an average amount. With that info, the AI during editing should be able to add shot tracers for ev","date":"2025-12-26","sentiment":"neutral"}],"total":16}
