We have experience with 2 of these machines. They both stopped frothing milk after the first time they were descaled. The DeLonghi customer service is terrible. We eventually went to our supplier and are getting our machines replaced. We don't now if the new machines will give the same problem, we certainly hope not. Other than the premature descaling request and subsequent failure of both machines ability to froth milk, we love the coffee. My conclusion is that with the mind boggling amount of tiny updates of each model (almost every year) it is virtually impossible to compare and the more expensive models heavily lean on *perceived* added value. I have a 2006 Philips / Saeco that I was looking to replace - the brewgroup is still 95% the same. Nobody needs 28 million different drinks. So I settled for a De'Longhi of a few model years ago. It makes espresso, double espresso, cappuccino, a undefinable coffee/milk drink plus hot water for tea. Realistically, that's all I need. It looked really nice on my countertop. The modern controls with touchscreen was sleek. Setting up the machine was a breeze. The screen walked you through all the necessary steps without any confusion. I installed the water filter / softener inside the water tank. This part felt flimsy, but it worked. I'm not too sure about wanting to buy these specialized filters. May be good to include details in the manual about using already filtered water, like from a fridge.\n                    Adding whole coffee beans to the hopper was straightforward. I used a variety of coffee that I am familiar with for brewing espresso. I noticed how the machine had a place for inserting pre-ground coffee. This does not appeal to me since the best coffee comes from freshly ground beans, which this machine can do automatically. I guess this will appeal to some buyers, especially who occasionally drink decaf.\n                    I spent a great deal pulling espresso shots. The taste was not bitter, and the coffee had a layer of crema on top. This crema looked a little fake, like it was produced using some type of jetting internal to the machine. It did not appear like authentic crema. The crema produced dissipated quickly, and did not leave much trace on the side of the cup.\n                    I moved on to the milk-based recipes next. I enjoy lattes and struggled to get a good micro foam. I used the smallest setting, and it was OK, but not as good as what is accomplished when using a steam wand. I needed to calibrate the amount of milk dispensed to properly fill my cups. It is odd that the unit of measure for milk is time based, instead of liquid volume.\n                    The quality of coffee produced with this machine is marginal. It does deliver consistent results though. Coffee was not exciting and did not draw me in for a second cup, let alone the desire to finish the first cup. It felt as if the coffee was void of any life. Being named Dinamica, I really hoped this machine did a better job. When I unboxed this machine in my kitchen, I removed my current semi-automatic machine and placed it into the basement. I now miss it and will be bringing it back to service.\n                    I liked the double walled milk container that could be removed and stored in the fridge. This is a great feature. This keeps the parts that are exposed to milk separate from the main machine, and helps keep things clean and tasting good. The purge function at the end is simple and convenient to run.\n                    I downloaded the app to my phone. This process was simple and it connected to the machine easily. I don't know why an account was needed, but it was nice that there was an option to skip. However, I needed to press the skip option each time the app is launched. It is nice that the machine can be turned on from the phone, so I can start preheating when I first wake up. The reception works in my two-story house from the bedroom to coffee machine on the first floor.\n                    I struggled with the strength of the espresso. It always tasted weak to me. I played with the settings, but it did not make a difference. Some of these settings are misleading. For example, you can set the amount of coffee. However, this does not change the amount of coffee ground and put into the puck. Instead, it changes the amount of water run through the puck. Intuitively, you may think that to increase the strength of the coffee, you would increase the setting for amount of coffee, but this seems to have the opposite effect. Instead of stronger coffee, you get a watered-down cup because it dispensed more water through the same amount of coffee. This problem was amplified when using the double shot espresso setting. Normally when this is made, a double shot portafilter is used and the amount of coffee is increased proportionally. Double shots produced with the Dinamica are watered down single shots. When looking at the waste basket, all pucks appeared to be the same size. You may want to consider an update to the software to tell the machine to brew two, independent single shots when the double shot recipe is selected. This could also be added to the other recipes, since many coffee shops use double shots.\n                    Some of the other settings are odd. I don't understand the setting for aroma. What is this doing under the hood? A barista does not have a way to set aroma. This predominately a characteristic of the coffee used. The coffee came out not hot and I needed to turn off the energy savings setting.\n                    I ended up wasting a good amount of coffee playing with the settings. Sometimes its not clear when navigating the menus that the particular function will immediately brew a cup, like when trying to set brew preferences.
