Never heard of her.... Upgraded to this from my Bombtech 4.0 driver, and it was quite the step up.  I make good contact off the tee, but the bombtech driver favored forgiveness over distance.  i could only hit it about 240yds carry.  After purchasing this Cobra Darkspeed MAX and hitting the range with it, my minimum distance now is 240yds carry.  After a couple range sessions, and finding out that the shaft on this Cobra driver was about an inch shorter than my Bombtech, i dialed my swing in.  My farthest carry was 290, and that was probably the perfect strike, and ball flight, with a little draw.  Without swinging fast, i was averaging 260-265yds carry.  My friend that i usually golf with, has the callaway AI smoke, and this driver performs right up there on that level.  I did however end up switching the grip to an oversize one due to me having bigger hands.  For the price of 300 for a 1 year old driver, this was a no brainer.  I was reading and trying to decide between this driver, the callaway rogue max, and the Cleveland High Bore, i went with this one out of asthetics.  i tried all 3 out at my local shop before buying, and they all felt close to the same.  This driver came with the original Darkspeed head cover and adjustment tool.  Its super easy to adjust weights around, and loft.  I moved the loft to 9.5 degrees during testing, and it helped me out greatly.  If you're looking to upgrade drivers, and don't mind buying new 1 year old tech, give this driver a shot.  Cobra is very underrated as far as golf equipment.","date":"2026-02-19","sentiment":"positive"},{"productId":"prod_188","source":"Amazon","sourceUrl":"https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FB4TCFLZ","author":"Jeff Harris","rating":5,"text":"UPDATE. Operator error seems to be the problem with this club.  I had a persistent fade to near slice with my non-adjustable unforgiving driver, so I just played the fade.  My other driver was old and did not seem to have the distance -- but I think it was me, not the club.  I adjusted the new DarkSpeed MAX for maximum Hook to counteract the fade.  It worked when I was playing weekly in the company league.  Many drives were straight and maybe a little longer.  After league was over in August, I did not play for over a month.  When I played again in October I had a bad, hard slice, with the same club and same adjustments.  It cost me distance and several lost balls.  I finally pulled out my old fade driver and played it down the left side, which worked but was not what I wanted.  So, the adjustment to Hook WORKED and cured my fade, at first.  I think after the layoff, my Swing changed.  I think I need to spend some time at the driving range to fix my swing... the hook Adjustment is not the real problem.  The hook adjustment worked; my Swing changed. Overall, a solid driver with some caveats.","body":"## Cobra Darkspeed Max Driver Review: Is It Right for You?\n\n### Overview\n\nThe Cobra Darkspeed Max driver has garnered a lot of attention, and for good reason. Designed with forgiveness in mind, it aims to help golfers of all skill levels hit straighter and longer drives. The reviews are a mixed bag, with many users praising its performance, especially its ability to correct slices. However, some recurring issues, like missing headcovers and potential durability concerns, temper the enthusiasm. This review will delve into the specifics, providing a comprehensive look at what makes the Darkspeed Max tick, and whether it's the right driver for your game.\n\n### Performance\n\nMany reviewers highlight the Darkspeed Max's impressive performance on the course. Several users, like Jason, specifically mention that the driver *fixed their slice*, a common issue for amateur golfers. The forgiving nature of the clubhead allows for off-center hits to still travel a respectable distance. Alex Waldbauer experienced a significant distance increase, with their minimum carry distance now at 240 yards. D Willmon found the club to be perfect for their game, loving the feel and achieving longer drives in the fairway. Others, like Cooter-Canoe, saw a substantial improvement in driver accuracy, even if they lost a bit of yardage compared to their previous driver. However, some users, like u/MountainDewGravy, struggled to get comfortable with the club, suggesting that the feel might not be for everyone.\n\n### Pros & Cons\n\n**Pros:**\n\n*   **Forgiveness:** Multiple reviewers specifically mentioned the driver's ability to correct slices and provide forgiveness on off-center hits. This is a major selling point for mid-to-high handicap golfers.\n*   **Accuracy:** Several users reported improved accuracy, leading to more fairways hit.\n*   **Distance:** Many users experienced increased distance, with some seeing significant gains in carry distance.\n*   **Feel:** Several reviewers enjoyed the feel of the club, with one user describing the shaft as having a great feel.\n*   **Adjustability:** The adjustable features of the Darkspeed Max allowed some users to correct their swing issues and improve their ball flight.\n\n**Cons:**\n\n*   **Durability Concerns:** One user, u/Morta-Nius-73, reported a cracked clubhead after only a year of use, raising concerns about the club's long-term durability.\n*   **Missing Headcover:** Several reviewers, including Samir Patel and Scott A Young, complained about the driver not including a headcover, which is a significant oversight for a club in this price range.\n*   **Feel Issues:** Some users, like u/MountainDewGravy, struggled to get comfortable with the club's feel, suggesting that it might not suit everyone's swing.\n\n### Verdict\n\nThe Cobra Darkspeed Max driver appears to be a solid choice for golfers seeking forgiveness and improved accuracy. Its ability to correct slices and provide a forgiving feel is a major advantage, especially for casual players. However, the recurring complaints about missing headcovers and the reported durability issue are significant drawbacks. If you're considering this driver, be sure to inspect it carefully upon arrival and consider purchasing a separate headcover. Overall, the Darkspeed Max offers good value for money, but be aware of the potential downsides before making your purchase. If you're a beginner, the forgiveness is a huge plus. If you're more experienced, the adjustability can help you fine-tune your performance. Just be mindful of the potential durability issues and the missing headcover.","aggregateScore":8.5,"prosConsFromReviews":{"cons":["Potential durability issues reported by some users.","Headcover often missing from the package.","Feel may not suit all golfers.","Some users reported high spin rates.","Limited lefty options available."],"pros":["Highly forgiving, ideal for correcting slices.","Improved accuracy reported by many users.","Significant distance gains for some golfers.","Adjustable features to fine-tune performance.","Good feel and overall user experience."]},"totalReviewsAnalyzed":20,"sourcesUsed":[{"name":"Amazon","count":9},{"name":"Reddit","count":11}],"generatedAt":"2026-02-20T00:00:13.018Z"}}
